Matwork level 1 course running October 2013 at Champneys

We will be running an APPI Rehabilitation Pilates Matwork level 1 course at Champneys Health Spa, Tring, Herts on the 12th & 13th October 2013

Course Description

APPI Modified Pilates courses are designed for those teaching within the rehabilitation setting. The five key elements of the Modified Pilates approach are taught to develop solid foundations for Pilates teaching. The recent research on spinal stabilisation and pelvic stability is reviewed and applied to the APPI beginner series of Modified Pilates movements.

Matwork Level One is the first in the series for the Matwork Certification, it is also the foundation course for all modified Pilates teaching courses. Over the two days this course will introduce the Pilates technique, relevant research, beginner level exercises and contra-indicated exercises. Sixteen movements for training lumbo-pelvic, scapulo-thoracic and cervical stabilisation are learnt through observation, self-participation and practice teaching. Discussions of the clinical application of the Pilates movements will occur at the time of their teaching to provide participants with the understanding to be able to teach these exercises to patients and clients after the course.

This course is open to: Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Rehabilitation Therapists, Sports Rehabilitation Therapists(with degree level qualification), Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists, Doctors, final year physiotherapy students and those holding either a Human Movement or a Sports Science degree.
