Tom Burton
Sports Therapist BSc (Hons)
I graduated from the University of Bedfordshire with an honours degree in Sports Therapy in 2007 and have been working with Emma James Physiotherapy for the last 3 years.
During my time at University and since I graduated I have worked with various semi professional and professional sports teams. I have worked within teams of therapists at Fulham Football Club, Luton Town centre of excellence, Tring Rugby Club and also supported a professional sailing team in the Audi Mediterranean Cup 2008.
My role in private practice has led me to gain experience treating various types of musculoskeletal injuries and acquire many different skills. My clinical practical skills include soft tissue and joint mobilisation, sports rehabilitation exercise, strength training and I also incorporate dry needling techniques into my treatment.
Most recently I have been working with TOG gait scan, scanning the clients feet for diagnostic purposes and to prescribe orthotic devices. This helps me to work with the clients biomechanics and lower limb function which has become my main area of interest.
